Editing Blog

After a week of filming in our designated locations, we were finally ready to start editing out our raw footage the minute we walked into class. Since we used Pinnacle Studios from our previous project where we had to produce a commercial, we decided to use the same editing software since we already experienced how to use it. We were again having difficulties turning on the computer as the computer is very old and outdated. After a couple tries, we were finally able to start the computer and open the editing software. The editing software was having trouble opening as well. We wasted a lot of time in class just opening the computer and opening up the editing software. After anxiously retrying over and over again, we were finally able to go into Pinnacle Studios. Since we already inserted our SIM card and dumped it into the laptop, we just had to pull it up from the file. The editing software was slow but we still had to use it as it our only option. We shot many scenes just in case we need extras and to our assumption, we was right. We later found out that our music video must be over a certain amount of slides that we initially thought we needed but thanks to our additional scenes we took, we didn't have to take more scenes as that will just waste time.

To begin our editing process, we first have to sort out and look through literally all of our raw footages. That took a very long time under such limited time but this step was very important. We had to look at the same scenes but different takes over and over again to see which one is the best one. It was quite exhausting as different group members prefer this take over the other take but at the end of the day, we were still finally able to decide which scene would be the chosen one. Once we were done choosing all the assigned scenes for the entire video, we had to edit out the sound for our scenes sincere are going to put in our music in place of the sound throughout the entire video. It was quite difficult learning how to cut out the sound from the scenes and converting the song into it since we never done stuff like this before.

After searching through the web for minutes, we finally learned how to cut out the sounds from the video and convert music into the background. With the limited amount of time in class, we were unable to completely finish our video so we had to save it for the next class. Overall, our editing process was quite successful minus the beginning as that wasted a lot of time just turning on the outdated computer and opening the Pinnacle Studios editing software, but even then it was slow editing since the program since the program is old. At the end of the class period, we still were able to finish the majority or the main parts of the music video so we were still satisfied. We will be continuing the rest of the editing process next class and hopefully we will be able to complete it.

Filming Blog #2

After all of our preparation from planning out our storyboard to scheduling the location and time for each scene, we were finally ready to begin our filming journey.  We discussed each group member’s availability so we were able to make sure all of the group members are able to make it to all the scenes at the same time as it crucial since we want all of the members of the group to be in the same scene together. We began our first day filming right after school on the last day before the Thanksgiving break. Me and another group member, Madison decided to go straight to our first setting which is the local park. Our other group member, Blake had to go straight home since he needed to get his flying drone and GoPro so he went straight home with his mom after school. It took less than 10 minutes for me and Madison to arrive at the park. By the time we were there, Blake was already waiting in his mom’s car. Since both of the group members were quite in a hurry with Madison needing to go to the gym and Blake having to finish his homework essay that was due at midnight that day, we have to get right into action. It took about another 10 minutes for Blake to set up his flying drone and GoPro.

After all the props and actors set in place, we begin filming. In the beginning sets of the scenes, it was just me and Madison while Blake handles flying the drone and capturing the scenes. We first had to do our first scene on the bleachers so me and Madison went on top of a bleacher and pretended like we talking. Blake on the other hand, flew the flying drone above and capture the moment. We took multiple shots of the same scenes just so we can have the perfect scene if we ever do messed up one of the scene. The next scene we took was in the middle of a soccer field. We laid perfectly in the middle of the soccer field with us facing opposite of each other. The next scene was where we filmed us dropping pennies on the ground and grabbing the pennies of the ground to resemble broke kids. Our last scene at the park was in the back of Madison’s car. Me and her sat in the back of her car while the drone was flying above us. It slowly goes higher as the scenes becomes higher and higher.

Our remaining set of scenes is going to take place at the beach. Since, we were unable to go to the beach after our park shoot, we had to schedule another day so we can all film at the beach. We decided to settle on the day of Thanksgiving. Since I live close to Madison, I had her pick me up around 9 so we can drive to the beach where we would meet up with Blake at 10. We drove there and met Blake at a set area. We decided for begin our first shooting inside a Walgreens where we would take two scenes inside the store. Our first scene was have Madison grab loads of chips onto her arms. We took multiples shots as well just so we can choose the best one. Our next scene was Madison grabbing loads of beach bags and trying on different sunglasses. We then left Walgreens and headed towards the actual beach. On the sand, we shot a scene of me and Madison building a sandcastle. The next scene was to have Blake splash water at Madison and that got both of them extremely wet. We used a GoPro to film all these scenes on the beach. After we were done filming all our scenes, Blake’s dad picked him up right from the beach while Madison drove me home. We were all satisfied with all the scenes we taken and we are looking forward to edit our raw footage next class.

Filming Blog

We began our new project which was to create a music video. We put a lot of thought into this from the song we were going to choose to the scenes we are going to take throughout the entire music video. Since it was our first time shooting a music video, it took quite a while to come up with different scenarios for each scene. We wanted the scenes to correlate with the song’s lyrics. To begin with, we had to decide a location we need to shoot in. We decided on two different locations that we will be shooting at. We didn’t want to shoot on school campus as almost everyone else is doing the exact same thing so we wanted to stand out, we decided to shoot the first half of the video at a nearby park and the rest at a beach. This will give us a beautiful background and creativity as well. Since a park is filled with objects like the slides and the monkey bars, we can utilize those as a prop for our scene. We chose the beach as it was relevant to our school about being free since the beach is associated with freedom and peacefulness. We then took quite some time to actually create a storyboard in our head and actually draw it out onto paper. At the end, it was quite successful and we were satisfied with our plan.

So far, we have plan out different scenarios for each scenes. For example, the beginning scene would be the actor grabbing a lot of snacks from a consignment store. The next scene would be all 3 actors driving in a car together and singing along to a song. The next scene would be a view out of the car window as we are driving past the beach. The next scene will be two actors playing volleyball on the beach and having a good time. The next scene will be actors trying on sunglasses at a beach store. The next scene would be coins of various dominations dropping on the ground. The following scene would be 2 actors sitting in the back of the car. The final scene would be two people walking down the beach at  sunset. All of these scenes will go along with the music video as each of the scene correlates well with not only the rhythm of the music but the lyrics as well.

We didn’t begin filming today was because we had to secure our actors and locations. All 3 actors had very different schedules that took some strategic planning to work out. For example, I am not available Monday through Thursday before 6 pm, the second actor is not free on certain days of work, and the third actor couldn’t film Friday through Sunday. Under the special circumstances of the Thanksgiving Break, we were determined to film on Tuesday, November 26th after school. During this time, we planned on filming our 1st, 2nd, 4th, 10th, and 11th scenes at our local park. Another important part of the process is securing out locations. In the storyboard, we had not planned to use more than 4 locations, these included the beach, the local park, the consignment store, and the car. Out of all these locations, we had to directly ask the manager of the consignment store to film. Our intent is not to disrupt business or to go against their company policy, so we believe it is only respectful to ask.

Storyboard Blog

Scene 1:
During this scene 2-3 people will be sitting on the bleachers socializing with one another. A high angle  will be used with a drone and the drone will slowly back up to establish the background. The sound used in the scene be Young Dumb and Broke, and the actors will be a diverse group of people wearing casual attire. Color grading might be used to add additional affect during the post production process.

Scene 2:
During this scene 2 people will be laying down on a football field at a local park. A birds eye view will be used with a drone and will will slowly come closer to the actors. Once again the actors will a diverse group of people wearing casual attire. Backpacks will be used as a prop, as a pillow, showing relaxation time from school. Color grading might be used to create a vivid effect.

Scene 3:
During this scene a person will be filling up a slushy at a slushy machine. A tilt will be used to position the camera from the ceiling to the slushy machine. The actors might be in a bathing suit and a shirt/tank top and the scene will be filmed at consignment store. We will ask the manager for their permission to film and we will purchase the slushy. Sound from the machine will be included in the scene and not very many post production affects will be added.

Scene 4:
During this scene an actor will be looking at snacks at a consignment store and grabbing a lot. A long shot will be used to show all of the actor and part of the background. Once again the manger will be asked if we can film there. The props used will be the bags of chips and not much post production affects will be added. Young Dumb and Broke will be playing the background.

Scene 5:
During this scene 3 people will be filmed driving in a car, singing along to the song. The camera will be placed on the dash and it’s a three-shot. Regarding the safety of the actors and public seatbelts will be worn, our speed will be very slow, and we won't be driving in a densely populated area. The actors will be wearing casual attire and the props used will he beach going items such as a towel and volleyball. The sound of the song will be heard and some special effects will be added in the post productions process.

Scene 6:
During the scene the beach will be filmed from the perspective of the car window. It will be an establishing shot, setting the background for scenes to follow. The car will be moving but safety will be of the most importance and actions will be taken as necessary. The lighting will be soft from the sun and the only prop used will be the car. Sound of the car moving might be heard and some color grading might be added to create a more vivid effect.

Scene 7:
During this scene we will be be using a wide shot. Two of the group members will be playing volleyball at lauderdale beach. We’re gonna use a wide shot to make sure that everyone is in the shot and we can get the beach in the background as well. We will be using normal costumes, makeup and actors will be in the ordinary. The lighting will be natural in this scene cause we will be outside and using the light provided by the sun. The  sound will me the music from the song that we are doing.

Scene 8:
In this shot two group members will be playing in the sand or building a sand castle. For this we will be using a two-shot. We will also be in normal costumes like shorts or bathing suit tops just to wear the proper attire when at the beach. Lighting will again be natural because there’s no need for more light then what is already provided. The sound will be the music from the song. We will add effects in the post production process like transitions.

Scene 9:
For this scene we decided to walk around the beach and go up to stands that are in the walkway. So we’re going to be trying on glasses at one ot these stands. Then we will be showing them on all of our faces so we will use a medium close up for this. Lighting will be natural because we will still be outside. We will still be using the same costumes that we used for the previous scenes. We won’t be using any new actors as well, it will just be the three people in the group. Sound will be the music from the song. There will be transitions between scenes so the video looks smoother.

Scene 10:
Coins will be dropped on the ground for this scene. One of the group members will have coins in their hands nd will just drop them as the shot starts. We chose to do this scene because in the song the artist sings “young, dumb and broke”. We wanted to include every aspect of the song in the video so we had to include the “broke” part. The lighting will be the natural lighting because we’re going to film this in a parking lot. Sound again will just be the music from the song. We will edit transitions in between scenes and color grading.

Scene 11:
For this scene there will be two group members siting in the back of my car. We will be parked in a parking lot. For this we will use a two shot as well as a wide shot to make sure we get the setting in the shot as well. We’ll be wearing casual everyday attire. It will be the same two people in our group that will be in this scene while the third person films. We might use a prop or two like the slushee that we got in the previous scene. The sound will be the music from the song “young, dumb and broke”. We will add transitions in between scenes as well as some color grading to give the scene texture.

Scene 12:
The last scene will show two people walking down the beach. This will two actors from our group. We will be trying to film this scene at the beach during sundown to provide a happy ending
To the music video. This will be a tracking shot as we follow the actors walking down the beach. We will be in normal attire. No props will be used during this scene because there isn’t a need for any. The sound will be the music from the song and we will add transitions to make it more smooth.

Planning of Music Video

During last class we had been introduced to our new project, a music video. I was really excited about the project because I worked really well with my group last time and thought this project would be more enjoyable. The previous project, the commercial, we had been confined to filming on campus and picking from certain topics. This project is different because we are allowed to film off campus and choose our own song. The song we are going to recreate in our music video is Young Dumb and Broke by Khalid. However, before we can film we have to plan out every aspect of the music video. This includes the location, health and safety concerns, props, costumes, and the schedule. This had been very helpful during the commercial, and I believe we will find it very useful again while filing the music video. Oh

Location:
Throughout the commercial we want to use locations that a high school viewer or teenager can relate to. For that reason, we choose places such as our high school, a park, the beach, a parking lot, the car, and fast food restaurants. High school is a place everyone can relate to as we are there for a large portion of our day to day lives. It is one large social atmosphere where we can grow together, feel to each other, and build relationships. The idea of a large social atmosphere was something we wanted to include in our music video. Locations such as the park and the beach are also some of a high school student’s favorite pastime. The ability to relax and take a break from our stressful lives is something everyone needs. Finally we choose to include the car as another location. High school students can range on average from 14-18 years old, and will be exposed to driving without their parents potentially. We wanted to recreate this experience in our video, and exaggerate the reckless behavior that a teenager may have when they are driving.

Health/Safety Concerns:
Safety is of the uttermost importance during the filming of the commercial. There will be some reckless scenes but we will minimize the potential risks and concerns each of these scenes will have. For example, during the filming of the scene in the car we will be wearing a seatbelt at all times the car is moving. The driver will concentrate on driving and we will be far away from crowded areas, where the public could potentially be at risk. Furthermore, throughout the filming of every scene we will have a first aid kit with us Incase someone is cut or hurt. Finally, we will have our phones on us at all times in case of an emergency. In this unlikely event, 911 will be dialed to get medical treatment  as soon as possible.

Props:
Props are another important part of the commercial, and we want to make sure they are related to our topic and audience. So, to recreate the life of a reckless high schooler, we will use props such as a car, food(likely fast food), beach going things, pennies(or other forms of change), and other regular day to day items. These props together will work to create this sense of being a high schooler and will add depth to our music video.

Costumes:
Costumes are another important part of the commercial, however it will be easy to replicate. We plan on using day to day attire for a student or teenager. Furthermore, our school does not have uniforms so we be able to control what appearance we have in the music video. However, we will make sure to have the costume politically neutral and not depicting things such as substance abuse or discrimination.

New Project: Music Video

After a week of shooting our commercial and editing the entire commercial, we were finally done with our commercial. Although, the commercial was not the best, however, it was quite amazing as we had limited time and it was all of our first time creating such commercial. From, using the camera to take scenes from the best desired angles of each scene, we took many takes as we wanted to use the best shots. With only a hour time limit for filming, we had to act quickly and we were successful for the filming at the end. Now back into the classroom, we had difficulties editing the video as the computer was very slow and sometimes not opening the raw footages. After multiple attempts, we were finally able to start editing properly and we cut out any scenes we didn’t want to include. We also added transitions between scenes and background music to make the commercial more professional. Overall, my entire group did a great job working together and creating a amazing commercial even though we encountered many difficulties especially in the editing process. I am definitely looking forward to working with them again in this new music video project because as a whole, we are able to efficiently create a great product under certain circumstances

Today my group is figuring out a song to do. We have contemplated a few different ones and I think we’re just going to stick with a song from the early 2000s to the recent years. We don’t wanna do an older song from the 80s and below because I feel like it would be too hard to replicate clothing that was worn in that era. The song we’re using is called “Young, dumb and broke”. This is sung be someone named Khalid Robinson. He was born on February 11th, 1998. His debut album ‘American Teen’ was released on March 3,2017. It ended up to number 9 on the U.S. charts. We chose this song because were all in high school so we can relate to the song 100%. We’re all young cause we’re only 16 or 17. We’re dumb because kids always make mistakes and we’re broke because well, I don’t think I need to explain that one.

1. The costumes we will be using are just normal everyday attire for the average teen. We want to try and make the clothing as related to the song as possible. So wearing fancy clothing would contradict the whole video. Average clothing consists on hoodies, redshirts, shorts & jeans.
2. We will be using natural light from wherever we film. We don’t be bringing in any special lighting because the music video is supposed to be fairly average.
3. Our actors will be the three people in thw group. We might add some extra people depending on what the scene is. We want to create that sense of socialization in the video.
4. Makeup will not be anything crazy whatsoever. Whoever wears makeup if any will be natural because we want the audience to be able to relate to it.
5. Some props that we will be using is for sure a car and money. We’re not sure what other props we will be using right now but we know it won’t be any that doesn’t relate to the song or high school students. We might use food as well just to show that we’re having a good time.
6. We’re going to have various settings in the music video because we don’t want to keep filming at the same place due to the worry that it will get boring. We wanna show that teens are always on the move and having fun.

For sound we will be using the music video and Pinnacle Studios for the entire editing process.

Final Editing Blog

My group started editing our video on Tuesday. However, we were having some major technical difficulties as the computer we were using was very not starting up as first. Our editing software, Pinnacle Studios was not opening in the beginning. After multiple tries and restarts, we were finally able to open up the editing software. Even though, Pinnacle Studios finally opened, it was extremely slow to oven operate. Every click and editing took a while to respond.  So while we were waiting for the computer to respond, my group decided to look through all the different takes and pick out the best scenes so we can use for our commercial. It took a while looking through our raw footages as we took many different tales of the same scene as we wanted to provide the best angle and lightning. We were having different disagreements on some scenes as each of us thought another scene was better than others. We finally came to the conclusion of the right scenes we will use to complete our commercial.

As we already chose all our wanted scenes, we were still having some technical difficulties with finishing the commercial as the computer was very slow. The editing software was very slow as well. Slowly by slowly, we added transitions to each scene. We also went online to choose a background song for the commercial as in our commercial, we had no dialogue so we needed a right song that would go along with our commercial. We decided to settle on a perfect music video that we thought would go very well with our commercial. Next, we played with the different transitions and cut out any unwanted scenes. It took a while for us to choose different transitions for even scenes as that is quite important for our commercial. At the end, we were all happy with the transitions.

We continued to edit our video on Thursday. Again, we were having technical difficulties opening Pinnacle Studios so we wasted a lot of time in the beginning of class just starting up the editing software. After multiple tries, we were able to get back into where we left off last Tuesday. As we already chosen our transition for each of our sequence, we needed to cut out some scenes that wouldn’t fit right into our commercial. So we look through each scene and cut out some scenes as this commercial must be under a set amount of time. With so many different scenes, we had to be smart with what scenes to cut out and what scenes are important.  As Thursday was a PSD Day, we only such little time to do some editing as not only was our computer had a hard time opening Pinnacle Studios, but it was acting extremely slow so we ended up not finishing the whole commercial. We will be continuing our editing next class.

Editing the Commercial

Today, our group started the editing process for our footage that we took last Thursday. We plan to use Pinnacle Studio 18 to edit our raw footage. With editing, we are able to organize any raw footage and cut out any unwanted footages and create a smooth and desired scenes for our commercial. However, a huge incident occurred during the beginning of the process. We were supposed to dump the raw footages to a computer but apparently on of the group member did not do it properly. Therefore, when we came back today, we were not able to find our file saved on the desktop. To add on, we didn’t know if it was the group member fault or the fault of the computers as these computers are old and is not the best condition as well. We started to get nervous as we were scared we had to retake every scenes again. We called Mrs.M over where she came and see what the situation was. Thankfully, our video was saved in the SD drive that we took videos on last Thursday.  With the same exact SD drive, we were able to locate the videos and properly dump this time.

So since we now have our footage back, we saved it to Google Drive as well just for the safety of this happening again. As these computers are not functioning properly, we were scared we will come back to class the next time and not locate our files. We saved it on Google Drive just for the convenience of all the group members as everyone is able to see it and edit it. We did not have a physical flash drive so that was our only option. After the hassle, we begin to start editing on Pinnacle Studio but again we ran into a problem. The Pinnacle Studio software was not functioning properly so we had to reboot it several times. As time was running out, we decided to just work on our blog as that what Mrs. M insisted on doing. After several time, we finally were able to open up Pinnacle Studios. To begin editing, we first have to import the footage. To import the footage, we begin by making an empty folder. Then, you highlight all of your files and drag them across into that folder. We then placed them at the box at the bottom of Pinnacle Studio. When we were filming we were sure to take a lot of extra shots so we had plenty of footage to work with. So if there was all my scenes we didn’t like, we were able to cut it out of the scene.

In the end, we did not have enough time to start our editing process as we just imported the files into Pinnacle Studio. Time was running out and we still haven’t finished our blog which was due dm before class today. Hopefully, we will be given time in the next class or else we would have no choice but to do it home. The problem with that was Pinnacle Studio is a paid software so that means for us to use Pinnacle a Studio on our own devices at home, we would have to pay for it. Nobody would want to pay for a software that we probably only use once just for the sake of this specific project. We were looking through all the different scenes we took at different locations however. Some we liked very much. There was some that looked really bad as the angle or the lightning was horrible. We were glad we took multiple shots of the same scenes as that was crucial so we don’t have to retake a scene in case we didn’t like it at all. My group was also thinking of background instrumental so we can play throughout our commercial as the people in the commercial had no dialogues so it would essentially be quiet when there is no sounds in our raw footage. We also plan out which scenes will be our first and what scenes will be our last. We want our commercial to look as professional as possible.

Storyboarding Blog

First Scene-
During this scene we will be filming the Nike shoes, specifically White Air-forces, for the commercial. The shot will be an extreme close up, and will be tracking the subject. The location for the shot is on the track as well. We wanted to include an aspect of athletics since Nike is mostly athletic apparel.

Second Scene-
The next scene we wanted to include for our commercial is someone walking with Nike shorts. The location for the scene is on the patio outside of the media center, as we wanted to create a social setting. Casual clothing is another major part of Nike’s brand and we wanted to make sure to incorporate that into our commercial. This shot is going to be a medium long shot.

Third Scene-
The third scene we wanted to include in our commercial was someone outside of the cafeteria at our school in a Nike shirt. This would be a medium shot.

Fourth Scene-
The fourth scene will be an actor going up the stairs with a Nike backpack. This scene will include a low angle wide shot. We specifically choose to include a backpack as most kids need one for school and we would be filming at our school.

Fifth Scene-
The fifth scene for our commercial will be all of the Nike apparel combined into once scene. This scene will take place on the senior patio and will include a tilt and will be a wide shot. We want to include every actor, the setting, and the Nike apparel all in this one scene.

Sixth Scene-
The sixth scene will be a black background with a Nike logo. Then a slogan such as “Just do it” or “Preparing student for education and athletics” will fade in.

*Each scene will last about 5 seconds and will have music in the background

Planning Blog

As we have previously learned planning is an important part of the film making industry and process. Today we learned we would be planning our commercial for example the costumes, scenes, settings, and schedule. It is important that we commercial so that we can save time. Working out our shots and scenes in advance will ensure we are able to get everything done the day we have to film. Planning can also save money. For the commercial we need some props and filming equipment, which if we plan out what we need, will save time. Lastly, planning the scenes out won’t cause confusion during the filming process. Planning will allow for all the actors to know what they are doing and when to do it. Overall, planning as many advantages and a good plan for our commercial will save us time and money as well as  prevent confusion.

Props- Were going to be using Nike apparel for the commercial. Specifically, we will be using Nike shoes, Nike shorts, a Nike shirt, and a Nike backpack.

Costumes- The costumes for the commercial will nothing intentional except for the Nike apparel. As this commercial is focused on education and taking place at our school, actors will be wearing day to day wear and the Nike apparel. For example, the actor wearing the Nike shorts will wear a non-branded shirt as well as shoes. The same goes for the person wearing the Nike shirt, they will try and wear other non branded clothing.

Schedule-
10/7- We decided the topic for our commercial. This ended up being a Nike commercial, focused on how their apparel is worn at school. We researched about the brand as well as how other Nike commercials were portrayed and filmed. We also blogged about the process.

10/10- Were planning our commercial today. We will discuss how planning will help us in the long run as well as the props well use, costumes well wear, our schedule, locations, and a backup plan. We will also blog about the process (this blog).

10/14- On this day we'll storyboard. Were going to map out the steps we're going to take to produce the scenes. This will save time, money and prevent confusion during the filing process.

10/21- On this day we will film the commercial. The plan is to stick to the storyboard in order to complete the filming and to move on to the editing process. A person will be filming an actor wearing apparel while the others direct the actor to what they have to do. We will also post an individual blog going over what we did.

10/23- On this day we’re going to edit our commercial. We will put all the footage we have into Premiere Pro and edit.

Locations-
Nike Shoes- On school track
Nike Backpack- Going up the media center stairs.
Nike Shorts- The patio outside of the media center aka the “Crop Circles”
Nike Shirt- Outside of Cafeteria

Backup Plan- It is important to have a backup plan for filming process because we only have on day to film. As such, every location that’s outside and could have exposure to rain will be moved to a place with an overhang. For example, the track scene with the Nike shoes, will be moved to the bus loop as if they were jogging out to practice. We want to keep the idea of excessive associated with our commercial. Also, the cafeteria scene would be moved to the senior patio because we want to keep the idea of school and social interaction in the scene. Lastly, if one of our actors is absent and doesn't have the prop with them, we will find someone who in our media studies class with a piece of Nike apparel on to fill the scene.

Research Conventions & Codes

Today is October 7th, 2019 and today we had to decide the topic for our commercial. The commercial is one of our first projects of the school year and there is a lot criteria we have to meet. For example the commercial has to be 25-30 seconds long, the typical length of an ordinary commercial. Additionally, we learned the commercial would be due October 28th at 11:59pm and emailed to our class email. Lastly we had to pick from a certain set of topics including Nike, Starbucks, Dublin Donuts, etc. Other forms of topics included anti vaping commercials for the county or commercials for our school such as the programs offered there. After much deliberation, our group decided to do a commercial on Nike. We wanted to include various clothing items that kids wear in their day to day school lives.

As previously stated, our group choose to create a Nike commercial for our first project. However this didn’t go without much debate. A pro to doing a Nike commercial is it’s a company everyone is familiarized with. Nike being such a large company, everyone in this day and age has hard of them company and likely has a price of apparel from them. Leading into my next point, props will be easy to find for the commercial. Asking around our group, we found that everyone had at least one piece of Nike apparel they could model for the commercial. Lastly, the group as a whole liked the brand image Nike presents. Nike supports education, equality, youth athletics and other various topics through the selling of their apparel.

Fairly early on in class we had made the decision to do Nike as our commercial, so we had extra time to begin planning our commercial. First of all, we researched current Nike commercials and developed an understanding of how they were filmed or produced. Secondly, the group created an idea for how to film the commercial which is to film individual pieces of apparel. The first clip would be someone walking with Nike shoes. The second clip would be someone walking with Nike shorts or pants. The third clip would be someone walking with a Nike shirt. The fourth clip would be someone walking with a Nike backpack. Finally, the last clip would be us  all walking together with the Nike apparel which would then fade to a Nike logo and a closing statement. After creating a brief idea, we then assigned each individual with finding the Nike price they would be wearing.I’m

The Life Of Darren

Before anything else, let me introduce the basics of myself. My name is Darren  and I'm currently 17 years old. Born on April 18, 2002 in Phoenix, Arizona, I was the first child for my parents. Although born in Arizona, I was raised up in the wonderful state, New York. Specifically Flushing, Queens, I would do all my elementary schools years there as well as 6th and 7th grade there. New York is wonderful because it a very crowded and busy state compared to my current state, Florida. Both of my parents are born and raised up in China but moved to the United States in their late 20s. I consider myself as Asian-American as my ethnicity is Chinese. I appreciate being Chinese as there are many benefits of being Chinese. Food is definitely one of them as almost all authentic Chinese parents knows how to cook Chinese dishes as they were raised up to learn how to cook at a early age from their parents. Although, asian parents are seen as strict and aggressive, my parents are surprisingly extremely calm and laid back.

In addition, my personality is complicated. I have quite a bipolar personality as I can go from being mad to happy in a snap of a finger. I am a very outgoing and hyper person. However, it all depends on who I'm with as that is very important because many people tend to act differently due to the people they are around. I wouldn't say I have a anger issue but I do throw anger tantrum when I get extremely pissed but it been getting better as I mature day by day. My main hobby is collecting hype sneakers. I really adore fashion especially streetwear and because I feel sneakers is a major factor in a outfit, I buy many sneakers from all colors and styles. I like many sports but I love playing soccer and volleyball whenever I have the time. I started playing soccer when I was young as the friends I hang out with during that time would always go out and play soccer after school. I started loving volleyball when I joined my middle school boy's volleyball team and surprisingly I was very good at it. I love food and I will eat every food that is put in front of me regardless of what culture the food is from. I don't have any dislikes but I dislike hot weather as I hate being hot which explains why I mostly wear shorts and short sleeve shirts.

Last but not least, I will shift to my educational aspect of my life. I spent all my elementary years at one school in New York. For my middle school years, I spent 6th and 7th grade in a middle school in New York as well but I moved to Florida with my parents mid year of 7th grade. I continue my 7th grade year and 8th grade at Sunrise Middle. Currently, now I'm attending Fort Lauderdale High School and part of their Cambridge Program. I am taking 3 AICE classes this year. I hope to pass all my AICE tests this year so I can receive my Cambridge diploma so I can look forward to my college years in the future.
